Date Flick

What do LOTR geeks do for their anniversary? They go watch the recently released movie The Hobbit, of course!

I forgot to share this last month, but here is my beautiful wife as we are about to enter a theater in Rochester, NY for the first time in years. In fact, the last we did this together was probably back when the last of the LOTR Trilogy came out - Return of the King!

Great partner, great movie, and a yummy bag of popcorn... doesn't get much better than that :)

Playground Date

Carson and I got to spend some quality one-on-one time together today at the newly renovated Somersport Park in Pulaski County.

Picnic then play, what fun we had!

I treasure these moments together.

Date Night

*sigh*

Liz and I got away for a date night tonight. How refreshing! A much needed getaway for both of us.

I've been stressed lately, and when I'm stressed, I'm not sure even why I'm stressed.

Its kinda like my difficulty with finding things. I'm horrible at it. Down right awful! What I'm searching for can be right where I'm looking, and I still can't see it. It's the same when I'm stressed, the reason is inside me and my emotions, and I can't recognize it.

Of course, my wife is opposite. She is a phenomenal finder (if there was such a title), and she is excellent at understanding and putting words to her emotions. (Another reason she's perfect for me!)

In fact, I've learned over the years that she has a better awareness than I about where we are at as a couple - if we are connecting well or emotionally distant. I could go for weeks of disconnect and if my tummy was full and we talked about "business" stuff regularly, I'd think our relationship was great!

Thankfully, my wife knows better than me. (And hopefully I've moved from clueless to at least semi-conscious regarding emotional oneness!)

Anyway, it was a great night to get away and be together. We need to do this more often :)

Happy!

This December, my wife and I will have been married 10 years. That's right, a decade. It has been an amazing 10 years of marriage with the love of my life, Elizabeth. I constantly tell younger people to marry someone who is married to Jesus first. I can give them that advice because its what I did. Liz was married to Jesus before we ever got together, and so was I, and it has made all the difference in our relationship.

Over the next few weeks leading up to our anniversary, I am going to post some pics and reminisce about some of our times together. As a teaser and a warm-up so to speak, here is a throw back photo from back in the day. I had to scan this in as this was before our digital camera or smartphone days!

Lead-in... this is a shot when Liz and I were a few months into seeing each other. We were headed to a Garth Fagan dance production at Nazareth College [my Alma mater] in Rochester, NY. [you can tell it is early in our dating years by the size of the twitterpated grins on our faces!]
