God With Us

It's been a great Christmas season so far. I've loved doing the Advent Bible Study each night with my family, and I've also enjoyed the sermons that have been preached on Advent by my buddy Tom.

Today Tom shared about the Trinity, and how specifically the Son was revealed at Christmas.

GOD WITH US.

It's more than a Christmas story, more than shephards, skits, and a manger scene; more than what we can hold in our understanding...

God was revealed to the world.

God with humanity.

And even better, He is still with me, and in me,

Today.

Wow.

Oh to live with a greater revelation of "God with us" this Christmas season and beyond.

Warming Up!

Today, was cold.

Shake and shudder cold, as I was outside running some errands tonight.

It definitely reminded me of some very familiar feelings that come with winter...

Cold feelings.

So to see us starting December off in the 60's, you won't find me complaining.

Let's just hope it stays the way it's forecasted :)

Stay warm!

The Board is Set

Last year, the Lady Maroons soccer team was defeated in the district championship by the Somerset Briar Jumpers. The loss came after beating Somerset soundly earlier in the season.

Here we are again.

2012 Kentucky High School Girls Soccer

We are officially set to play Somerset in the district championship, and after we defeated them earlier in the season, Somerset would love to upend any plans Pulaski County has of being district champions, just like they did last year.

Soccer drama. Sports drama... Love it!

GO MAROONS!!

Inspiration and Desperation

In life you need either inspiration or desperation. Tony Robbins.

Or both.

We are entering the final stages of our soccer season. The Pulaski County girls soccer team has a couple more regular season games and then begins the district tournament. The girls soccer team has never won the district tournament, and we have a great opportunity to do that this year.

Last year, the girls got complacent - soundly beating Somerset in the regular season, only to fall to them in the tournament championship.

The stage is set again this year.

We had a convincing win against them in the regular season, and more than likely, they will get past the first round to meet us in the championship game next week.

If we are not careful, we'll forget it was a 0-0 game with Somerset at the half... We'll forget the close breakaway that could have put them up on us in that game... We'll forget what they did to us last year.

One of my jobs as a coach is to help inspire and light fires of desperation in the team.

Hopefully, both happens.

Storm Shot

This pic was shot from our back porch as a severe weather system approached Somerset, KY. Though Somerset area didn't have a tornado touch down, it was this same system I believe that produced a tornado about 30 miles east.

Please continue to pray for all the families affected by the tornadoes, and see how you may be able to help.

Library Lovin'

The whole family went together today to the Somerset-Pulaski County Library. What a blast! Three floors of library fun!

I had the chance to share with the oldest three how to search and find books on topics that interest them. Libraries and bookstores are one of my wife and my favorite places to visit, and I want to share with the kids how to get the most from their library experience.

As you can see, our local library has a kids floor that has kids books, animals (bunnies!), reading spots and play areas. It makes it a fun place to go for kids and adults both, no matter your age.

As I said, we really enjoyed our time at the library. So here's the plug: Support your local library by visiting today!
