Darwin

Over 200 years ago today, evolutionist Charles Darwin was born. Darwin wrote the book, "On the Origin of Species." Darwin and his evolutionary thinking have had an impact on our world, including the church. Many church-goers have adopted the thinking that somehow evolutionary thought and the Word of God can co-exist. We have re-interpreted the Scriptures to make allowance for the evolution of man. What most don't realize is the slippery slope that this creates, which can lead to the undermining of God's Word and the existence of God Himself.

Instead of the Church influencing the world, the world is influencing the Church.

On this anniversary of Darwin's birthday, I would encourage you to read the blog post below by the man who started the creation museum here in northern Kentucky, Ken Ham. I would also encourage you to take time to find out truly what the Bible says is the origin of man. Consider carefully where you may have adopted Darwinian thought, simply because it was handed to you from teachers, professors, or the like, just as it was handed to me.

Yes, Abraham Lincoln was born on this day, but today, secular humanists and compromising and liberal clergy are more likely to be celebrating Darwin’s birthday. Story or Science?

One of the things that is lacking in the Christian church of our day is an understanding of the link between science and the things that we see, and the Scriptures and what we do not see. We refer to science and what scientists study as "facts," while the truth of the Bible regarding things such as the flood of the earth and the creation of man are referred to as "stories."

And so a disconnect forms between what we may have learned from secular science and what we read in the Scriptures, which ultimately can undermine the Truth and shipwreck someone's faith.

One of the best ministries out there on the front lines of this battle for truth is Answer's in Genesis and it's popular Creation Museum.

We visited the museum for the first time this past year and loved it. It was a great way to spend time together as a family and at the same time, lay a foundation of establishing the Bible as more than stories, but as facts and truth that help to explain and make sense of the world around us.

If you haven't gotten the chance to visit it yet, make it a goal to bring you and your family this year. I don't think you will be disappointed, and the lessens learned are priceless.
