Hiking the Big South Fork

One of my favorite things to do with my kids is go hiking. So, with a beautiful day forecasted tomorrow, I am planning our next adventure!

On a random note, I am mulling a change to the blog... will let you know soon...

Vista Love

There is only one magazine that I subscribe to - Backpacker.

There is something about hitting the back country with your gear, map, and a heart full of anticipation for the adventure ahead.

I love maps, beautiful vistas, fresh air, mountain peaks, forest trails, and the sense of newness and excitement that hiking brings.

Whenever I get my current Backpacker magazine, I love searching for local trails, scoping out the latest gear, checking out the inspiring images from God's creation, and reading the interesting articles.

The pic above is from "The High Life" article in the November issue.

If you love the outdoors, I encourage you! Get out more often, and, get yourself the Backpacker magazine

Bonding Hike

Just touch your ear to your shoulder and you'll get it (:
The boys (Carson and Josiah) and I hiked in Big South Fork today in southeastern KY. What a blast!

It was a great bonding time with my boys. I'm so thankful for times like that with them. They did great for probably 4.5 or more miles of hiking!

Side note: This pic is from the devils jump overlook, what a view... Blue Heron Loop is the hike we took, one of my personal favorites now...

Big South Fork

The other day I received a couple fun things in the mail from Amazon.com: a map and a guidebook; both related to the Big South Fork.

The Big South Fork is a recreation area that stretches from southern Kentucky to northern Tennessee. It's a place where you can hike, ride bikes, go rafting, and other outdoor activities. And, it happens to be just down the road from where we live.

As someone who loves the outdoors I was pretty excited to receive my goodies. I've been planning our next hiking trip(s) and can't wait to get out and explore God's creation, especially as the weather turns even warmer (its already been a crazy warm winter!).

For you other hikers out there, see you on the trail!

So, any of you a window shopper? How about a virtual window shopper? You know - perusing through amazon.com and loading up your shopping cart, but very rarley if ever ever checking out? Yea, window shopper, virtually speaking.

One of my favorite online stores to virtually peruse is The Clymb. As mentioned in a recent post, I love the outdoors and anything that includes camping, hiking, and the like. From their site, The Clymb is...

Backpacker

I love the outdoors. Hikes, running, camping, snowboarding... so when I received my first issue of Backpacker magazine the other day I was pretty pumped.
I'm still scouring the first issue I got, but am enjoying it so far. I like to share what I'm reading once in a while, so there you have it - hopefully Backpacker will prove to be an enjoyable subscription!
